Think Training Your People is Dead Money? Not Training Them Will Kill Your Business…

You know that success, productivity, and efficiency come through training and repetition in relevant skills or business qualifications.

 

Successful employers recruit staff and operatives that can demonstrate competence before they’re offered employment. They have qualifications and experience (otherwise known as training).

 

So why do so many companies shy away from providing high quality training and instruction in business qualifications to their own people? Almost none (less than 17%!) even deliver refresher courses! Lunacy.

HSE prosecuted 343 company directors in 2019/20, including several for corporate manslaughter, some of which received custodial sentences and went to prison for 4 years or more.

 

Know what most of these failings were due to?  Lack of appropriate training, either of the employee directly involved in the incident, or the director deemed responsible.

 

Less ‘headline-worthy’ working practices call for more ‘routine’ skillsets that have little health and safety impact. However, many processes and procedures across hundreds of sectors and industries require formalised assessor skills, quality assurance qualifications and ‘upskilling’ training for managers, supervisors and team leaders.
